Another one of those things you have to take into consideration when traveling abroad.

Getting an internationally functioning credit card has been a trial in patience.  Five months later and actually abroad, I’m still fighting for it.  At the rate we’re going I’ll get it issued right about the time I’m flying back.

Yep.

EDIT:  So some of my yankee brethren might be wondering WHY we have a different credit card system then the rest of the world.  It stems from America having been one of the first places embrace credit cards whole sale.

As credit cards came to other nations the technology had moved farther and farther along, investing in more security.  (Every credit card has a pin.  And they always ask for it.)

Meanwhile back in the states, our early adoption kinda bit us in the ass, as all of our credit card reading machines were set to the barcode system.  It will take millions, if not billions, to switch our systems over to the chip and pin machines.  But we will eventually have to as the rest of the world embraces the more secure card.

Yep.

Scraps is back.
Temporarily, at least.
Seeing as I’m in London now, and have things to talk about.

Postscript to this comic.
I did this, like, two months ago.  The feelings are in remission.
I was just really nervous about posting it because I:
a. didn’t want people to worry about me
and
b. didn’t want people to think I was just moaning

Depression kinda hits me every summer and I only really bring it up because it’s helped me, in the past, to see that my peers and idols go through similar motions as me.  And if I can offer someone else that same comfort, then yeah, I’m gonna talk about feeling crap sometimes.  And being scared of everything.

Some happier comics will follow, but there’s a few that deal with the lead up to my traveling to London and the anxieties therein that we have to go through first.

Bear with me, and we’ll see how far this goes.

jenvanmeter:

The short answer is, not really.

The longer answer is, it is happening, it is well on its way to being finished; it is a piece of writing that took me three times as long as I’d ever intended and with which I’m extraordinarily pleased.

Meredith has done gorgeous art, and when the whole thing is assembled just so, it is going to be so gadsmatchetingly gorgeous all our hearts will stop for a just an extra slice of a breathless second.

I cannot even contain how much I love her work.

The thing about this book, though, is that it has a lot of fiddly bits and pieces, and we can’t schedule or announce a pub date until we know exactly how and when all those bits will come together.

But believe me, friend, the minute we have a date, I will be shouting it from roof beams and stenciling it on livestock and generally making a fool of myself to get the word out.

In the meantime:

Jen is the loveliest.

And the story she’s given me is just wonderful.  I hope I do it justice.

(…Please don’t point out to me that ‘articulatures’ is not a real word.  I have figured that out.  Post, posting this, of course.)
(It will be edited by the time it goes to books.)
(It’s just.)
(I know.)
